How A Single Mother of 4 Children Against All Odds Found A Way To Break Through The Barriers To Set Herself Free To Live Her Best Life!
Thank you for taking time to visit my site.
My Name is Sonia Greyson-Newman, I am a life coach, housing professional, radio presenter and author. A mother of 3 twenty somethings, a teenager. I am a new grandmother (Glam Mar) and a happy wife.
My life with its interconnecting roles has presented me with many experiences. Some that may be considered good and some that may be considered challenging.
From an early age I wanted to ‘make something’ of my life. My childhood dream was to become famous as a dancer, actress or singer. I guess it was the fame and the glamorous lifestyle that made them seem attractive!
But life gets in the way. My family life started at the age 23yrs old and that is when I got my ‘sensible’ job within a local authority. This was a safety net as it provided me with financial security whilst I raised my 4 children. My ex-husband and I also kept ourselves busy by focusing on our spiritual development and developing a couple of businesses.
My World Fell Apart
My first marriage broke down after 10 years and I became the primary carer of my four children, who were all under the age of 8 years old. This meant I had to reevaluate, not just who I was but how I would provide financially for my family.
I had no choice but to continue to work full time. And although I continued to work full time, I still have strong memories of occasions when I did not have enough money to put food on the table. There was one occasion when I had no alternative than to pawn my wedding ring in order to buy groceries.
That was a ‘light-bulb moment’.
A Victim No More
I decided I was not going to be a victim and realised that I had to make changes for myself. And although things for me were difficult, the proverbial glass was half full and not half empty.
After reading a number of self- help books I decided to take positive action to better my circumstances. And although I had responsibilities and commitments I decided that I would further my education. And within 5 years I had two promotions plus a Bachelor of Arts in Housing Studies. The following year I completed further training and assessments qualified a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
I have made some mistakes in my life, mistakes that have not only hurt me but have hurt others. I have learnt to accept my life lessons because, they tell the story of my life.
These experiences have formed me into the person that I am today. I have tasted both the bitterness and the sweetness of life. I have walked towards and embraced my fears in many areas.
I May Get Knocked Down, But I Still Get Up!
I do not think that I am special. The only thing is that I managed to achieve my goals by pushing through the boundaries that have presented themselves to me.
In my day to day life, family and friends continually to say to me ‘Given your personal circumstances, you have achieved so much’ or ‘how did you do that?’
There is so much that can be achieved if we change or mindset and believe that the possibilities are endless. I had to overcome many challenges by overcoming my own barriers and fears and had to be brave enough to make changes.
Empowerment Is The Key!
It has always been a goal of mine to be in a position where I can help people. And it is that goal that has lead me qualifying as a life coach.
My passion is to empower women to find their own ‘light bulb moment’.
I have always had an interest to become a life coach and decided to qualify because I was fed up with seeing so many people living unfulfilled lives. Sometimes people just need to see that their glass is half full and not half empty, just like I did. Now I run my own coaching business empowering women to do the same.
In 2010 I co-authored ‘iFactor For Women’ a motivational book, journal and action planner for women.
I never gave up on love and in 2009 I met my husband. We got married in September 2012 and live happily in North West London.
