BeingU Launch

Last month I was invited to the plush Savoy Hotel in Central London to attend the launch of a brand new lingerie collection for women of colour. The evening was hosted by the lovely Ronke Lawal of Ariatu PR, who personally welcomed and introduced guests to each other, which was great for networking.

BeingU is a lingerie collection that is for all skin tones but has a particular focus on black women, as the collection was created to address the problem of skin toned lingerie traditionally being beige.

The founder Sadia Sisay is extremely passionate about changing the landscape for black businesses. BeingU was ‘birthed’ as Sadia was inspired by her Daughter to design a line for black women as she did not want her daughter to grow up in the world where the needs of Black Women were not catered for.

Sadia’s journey has not been smooth, However, Sadia pursued her dream despite a number of setbacks such as her own stroke and blindness, her Mother’s illness and the sudden death of her Husband. Sadia’s story is inspirational because she followed and achieved her dream against all odds.

You maybe aware of other lingerie brands that cater for black women and women of colour and I say the more the merrier!

Please do go along to BeingU’s website for more details and see the full range.

Until next time
