It is 31st December 2012 and I was up at the crack of dawn sitting on my sofa with the urge to write a quick blog about the New Year.
I have just returned from a few days of relaxation with my Husband in one of our favourite places, Brighton (for those who do not know the city of Brighton is on the south coast of the UK). During my morning run by the sea I stopped to take in my beautiful surroundings and beautiful sea air. Mother Nature has a way of reminding me that we actually have all that we need. But we make our lives challenging and stressful by the way we strive for what we individually want.
As 2012 passes and 2013 is born we must not get stressed and beat ourselves up because we have not achieved or acquired, but instead use this time to recharge and refocus on what is important.
Before setting your resolutions or intentions for 2013 take some time to review 2012. Grab a pen and paper, your electronic device or smart phone. Be honest with yourself and ask the following:
What did you promise yourself that you would do in 2012?
On reflection, was it realistic?
Did you set yourself a specific time frame in order to achieve it?
Did you have the resources to make it happen?
It is important to spend some time recognising what you did achieve in 2012 and celebrate that. Remember there is nothing wrong with striving to achieve what we want, we should all live an abundant life. But we should also aim for abundance without stress.
Say a big thank you for 2012 whether it brought you what you wanted or not, it probably gave you a lesson you needed. Embrace, learn and move forward with the lessons of 2012.
If 2012 was not the best for you, the questions above will help you review and set the foundation for the New Year. And if 2012 was the best then use what you did right and build on that.
Remember that the New Year is just a date like any other in the year and on any date you can take stock of where you are, where you are going and take action. Meaning you do not have to wait for New Year’s Day to make changes any day will do, as long as you commit to doing.
But most of all let the change in year be an opportunity to not only celebrate all that we have but also a time for gratitude for what we do have.
I am putting together a free teleseminar to help you get the best out of your life in 2013. So if you are not already part of my growing community for the 40 + Woman go to http://www.brightnowcoaching.com/ There you will see a box to join the community, once joined you will receive a free audio recording and will be kept up-to-date with all the new and exciting things that will be happening at Bright Now Coaching in the near future.
I would like to thank you for your support and connections in 2012 and looking forward to connecting and serving you more in 2013.
